The inspiration of the St. Jude Runs began in Peoria, IL, in 1982, when Mike McCoy and Gene Pratt collaborated on a way to raise money for St. Jude – their favorite charity.

They first envisioned driving to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, and then running back relay-style to Peoria, home of the Jim and Trudy Maloof St. Jude Midwest Affiliate Clinic.  Now, many Runs later, their vision has become one of the foremost charity running events in the nation, having raised over $20 million and still counting.

Why I Run

For the Kids!

Lauren Bearden October 23, 2014

It is my way of giving back for all that St. Jude has done for my family. I know that I may never be able to raise the amount necessary for what it takes to save a child’s life like my son, Kyle Strube, but I will always put forth my best effort. Thank you St. Jude!!

Denise Skaggs Strube-Pieper October 23, 2014

Because Max Duzan is cancer free because of St. Jude!
