Kid's stories
Wesley
Age 10
Macomb

We live in Macomb, Illinois. Our Son, Wesley, was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia) October 1, 1997. He was 4 years old.
We left the following day for St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee (approximately 500 miles from home). Leaving our 8 year-old daughter, Lauren, with grandparents.
Wesley went through 2½ years of chemotherapy. He finished treatments April 27, 2000.
Wesley is now 16 and driving. He enjoys playing football and baseball. He works at HyVee and is very active with our church's youth group. He feels great and had no side effects from his treatments. He goes annually for check ups at St. Jude in Memphis. His last treatment was April of 2000. He ran for the first time last year in the St. Jude Macomb to Peoria Run. He is looking forward to running again this year.
Thanks to St. Jude, our son is alive and doing well. Our family will always be grateful for the care we received at St. Jude.
